Katie L Clark

I'm now spending more and more of my time every day on social media. I've been expanding my social media platforms recently and have just added Pinterest to my list of social media networks that I've been focusing on recently.

Spending more time online, I've noticed so many things about social media... some things I love, and other things that I'm not so keen on! So hopefully this post should act as a conversation starter, I'd love to know what things you've all been noticing as well!

Before I get on with the post, you may have noticed that I've changed my post photo graphic! I'm just trying out something new, hopefully, this fits in better with my current blog theme and my own personal style! But some feedback would be awesome, it's always a work in progress and I'm constantly making changes and updating things!

Ok, hopefully, 3rd time lucky for this post. I've rewritten it so many times because there's just so much to talk about. It's so hard to find where to start! So instead of one mammoth sized post, I'm going to make this into a mini-series. Today I'll just share some basics, then I'll do posts on specific groups later!

So there's probably one of two reasons why you've clicked on this post:
  1. You're interested in K-pop/have seen it in the news and you're wondering what the hype is all about.
  2. You're a K-pop fan and you've just come to join in the fun!
Hopefully, by the end of this post, you'll have an overview of the past 10+ years of the K-pop world and you can navigate your way through the chaos. I'm aiming to break down the Korean music industry into an easy to manage post, explain the genre and industry to an English speaking audience... and let's just see what happens! Let's go for it!

It's been a tough week. Every week at the moment feels like a tough week. I haven't been posting particularly recently because I'm spreading myself thin enough already and blogging every few days would just be one too many things on my plate at the moment!

Life is chaotic. We all have 101 life problems that we don't share with each group of friends or work colleagues... and then it gets to a breaking point.
This week has been my breaking point.

Trying to juggle studying, working, friends, family, relationships, food, exercise, well-being.... the endless to-do list that never gets 100% finished. It seems like an impossible task. The things are too big and too complicated to achieve. So I break the list down into smaller, more manageable tasks.... which just makes the list longer and even more scary!

Dear Lady on The Bus,

I've just got back from what is probably my worst day at University. This is my fourth year at University now, so putting this right at number 1 is probably quite a statement.

No, I didn't have a difficult lecture. No, I didn't fall out with friends. No, I didn't have a lecturer shout at me.

I have a back injury. It's not an injury you are able to see. I had an accident about 4 years ago where I slipped vertebrae. At the time it just felt like a severe muscle strain. I have a relatively high pain tolerance it seems, because it got worse and worse. To the point where I suddenly realised that I couldn't walk anymore.  And so, a few high courses of painkillers, a great physiotherapist and a lot of bed rest later, I can now walk. I swim, I go to the gym and I do martial arts. But that doesn't mean my injury has gone.

Since this pain has started, it's never 100% left. I've never been cured so to speak. I've healed, I've got better. But it's not gone.

It's been a long time! I've had so many posts planned, but had in all honesty been so busy to write everything out. I've had graduation, I've been accepted onto my master's course and so have been sorting that out. I've also had life to deal with!

But I suppose I'll soon be a law student blogger. This time next month I'll have moved into my new place (and hopefully shared some pictures of it!) I'm definitely excited to go. I've wanted to go into law since 6th form, but the undergraduate degree just didn't seem right for me. But this course is hopefully going to be what I've been looking for the whole time.

Something has been bothering me for a while, so this morning I decided to take a break from essay writing and general studying to sit down and vent all of my issues out to you guys. You can agree or disagree with me, this is not a piece where I'm telling you what to believe. There are - as there always is - two sides to the argument.

Recently British YouTubers have come into the spotlight (well, one specific group of them). Tayna Burr has her eyelash line along with the lip gloss and nail polish line she previously released. Zoella has recently released her beauty line along with the book which has prompted this post. Alfie (also known as Pointless Blog) has also released a book previously...just to name a few.

Now yes, Bubzbeauty has her makeup brush line, Michelle Phan has her makeup brand and in case you weren't aware Weylie has just released a line of phone cases. And we can't forget Blogilates mass of merchandise in here. I have no issue with Michelle Phan, Bubz, Weylie or Blogilates... because they seem to be genuinely interested in the products they're creating. Bubz still ships all her brushes herself, Michelle Phan genuinely knows her makeup! And the same goes for Blogilates, anyone who does her program seems to become healthier and it actually works.

About me

Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. I'm Katie, a philosophy and law graduate from the UK. This is my little life and style blog, where I discuss any issues I feel are important to me and those that interest me.

I love minimalism, I'm trying to decrease the amount of waste I produce and I've been vegetarian my whole life. And so there will be some posts on sustainability and things.

But I also love a lighthearted post every now and then. I love a good beauty post, I focus on skincare and occasionally I'll share my opinions on the Korean music scene from the perspective of an older, long-term fan of the genre.

There's a lot going on, it might be chaos... but this is me.

This is my life. Enjoy!
